Actor/musician Peter Dinklage was backed by a band that included Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner of The National for a performance on Tuesday’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert episode. Dinklage sang “Your Name” from the forthcoming Cyrano film.
Peter Dinklage stars in and shows off his voice for the adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac which begins a limited theatrical run on January 21. The actor discussed how he found the confidence to sing during an interview with host Stephen Colbert before the performance. “It’s terribly nerve-racking, but you’re surrounded by really great musicians and really great singers, and they make you feel better,” Dinklage said. “I like a mix of voices, it doesn’t have to be perfect. The greatest singers aren’t necessarily opera singers, they just have soul.”
“Your Name” features music by Aaron and Bryce Dessner accompanying lyrics penned by the Dessner brothers’ The National bandmate Matt Berninger and his wife, Carin Besser.
