moe. was joined by many guests for shows at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Friday, December 10 and Saturday, December 11 as the band went without guitarist Chuck Garvey who is recovering from a recent stroke. Pro-shot video featuring moe.’s performance of “Opium” at The Cap with Gov’t Mule guitarist Warren Haynes and The Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner has been shared on Relix’s YouTube channel.
“Opium” was played by moe., Warren Haynes and Aron Magner towards the middle of the second set on Friday, December 10. Haynes shared vocals on the song with moe. bassist Rob Derhak. Rob Derhak wrote “Opium” for inclusion on moe.’s 2001 studio album, Dither. Gov’t Mule debuted their cover of “Opium” on June 13, 2012 with 11 versions following through the band’s most recent rendition at their 2020 Island Exodus destination event in Jamaica. Warren has previously sat-in with moe. on the song a few times, including at the 2015 Mountain Jam festival and 2002 Christmas Jam.
