Episode 87 of The JamBase Podcast, a partner of the Osiris Media Network, features an interview with Chadwick Stokes and Brad Corrigan of Dispatch. JamBase’s Scott Bernstein interviewed Stokes and Corrigan following the May release of the band’s new album Break Our Fall via Bomber Records/AWAL Recordings.
Dispatch recorded the bulk of Break Our Fall with longtime collaborators Mike Sawitzke and John Dragonetti at Panoramic House in Stinson Beach, California just before the pandemic began. Chad and Brad detailed the making of the LP during a video call from their homes in Massachusetts and Idaho, respectively. The pair explained how the pandemic gave them the chance to finish an album they thought was “three-quarters cooked” when they left Panoramic House.
The co-founding members of the band went on to talk about releasing material from the record in phases before scrapping the plan and just putting out Break Our Fall in its entirety on May 28. Stokes and Corrigan talked about working with Sawitzke and Dragonetti and collaborating with The White Buffalo on the album’s “All This Time.”
Dispatch recently announced an acoustic fall tour. Chadwick and Brad discussed how they will put the setlists together and revealed the songs they are most excited to play. Other topics hit upon were how the pair used social media during the pandemic, performing “The General” 23 years after the song was released, their friendship with former member Pete Francis and more.
