New Boston Venue Roadrunner Announces Opening Lineup

Boston will soon get a new music venue when Roadrunner begins hosting concerts in March 2022. Located in the Allston-Brighton neighborhood, the 3,500-capacity Bowery Boston venue revealed its initial lineup of concerts which includes Lake Street Dive, Waxahatchee, Big Thief and Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange), among others.

The first shows at Roadrunner will feature Mitski on March 21 and 22, followed by Bleachers performing on March 24 and 25, and JoJo on March 29. Lane 8 will perform on April 8, Big Thief on April 13, Watchhouse on April 17, and The Story So Far on April 29. Also announced was Lake Street Dive on June 11 and 12, Waxahatchee on June 21, and Wallows on June 22.

Roadrunner was named after The Modern Lovers song “Roadrunner.” Written by frontman and Massachusetts native Jonathan Richman and appearing on the band’s 1976 self-titled debut album, the song’s lyrics reference Massachusetts.
