James Blake Announces New Album ‘Friends That Break Your Heart’ & Fall Tour 2021

Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and producer James Blake will put out a new album entitled Friends That Break Your Heart through Republic Records on September 10. Blake, who will embark on a North American tour this fall, previewed the LP by sharing lead single “Say What You Will” and an accompanying video.

James Blake’s tour starts at The Observatory North Park in San Diego on September 16. From there, the UK-based artist brings the run to Berkeley (California), Portland (Oregon), Seattle, Los Angeles, Denver and Minneapolis over the remainder of September. October dates include stops in Detroit, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, Washington D.C., Charlotte and Atlanta.

Tickets go on sale to the general public mainly through Ticketmaster starting next Friday, July 30 at 10 a.m. local time. Fans can sign up here for early access to tickets.

The upcoming LP is Blake’s fifth full-length studio album and first since 2019’s Assume Form. In 2020, James released his Covers EP featuring takes on songs by Frank Ocean, Billie Eilish, Roberta Flack and more as well as the all-original Before EP. Guests on the 12-track Friends That Break Your Heart include SZA, JID, SwaVay and Monica Martin.

“The song is about finding peace with who you are and where you’re at regardless of how well other people seem to be doing,” Blake said of his new single. “Comparison really is the thief of joy.”
