Hiss Golden Messenger and We Banjo 3 are among the additions to DelFest’s 2021 lineup, which has now been finalized. The event will be held at Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, Maryland September 23 – 26. Ronnie & Rob McCoury of organizers the McCoury Family posted an update on health and safety at this year’s DelFest with a goal of providing exact details later this week regarding protocols that will be in place.
Del McCoury Band, The Travelin’ McCourys, Old Crow Medicine Show, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Railroad Earth, Béla Fleck’s My Bluegrass Heart and Leftover Salmon are among other acts set to perform at DelFest next month. The four-day festival is traditionally held over Memorial Day Weekend but was moved to October due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ronnie and Rob’s update included word, they “are being strongly advised to make [DelFest] a vaccinated only festival (with testing for minors).” The McCoury Family will make the final decision this week but, “want to be transparent about the options that are on the table since time is getting short to be fully vaccinated before the festival.” The musicians, their bandmates, crew and bus driver all got vaccinated as, “it is the safest way for us all to continue to do what we love.”
The update also stated organizers hired a COVID-19 compliance officer, are in talks with state and local health officials “on the best course of action” and are listening to comments from attendees. “Please know any decisions that are made will be based on keeping you, your family and our family safe,” stated Rob and Ronnie on behalf of the McCoury family. “We are going to do everything in our power to protect our mom and dad, and our children — and we take our responsibility to your families just as seriously.”
