Bob Weir and Wolf Bros continue to preview their forthcoming Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros: Live In Colorado live album with the release of “West L.A. Fadeaway” from the eight-track collection. The set marking the band’s first vinyl live release, which is also due on CD and digitally, arrives via Third Man Records on February 18.
Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros: Live In Colorado contains highlights from the group’s June 2021 run in Colorado. Weir, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, bassist Don Was, pedal steel guitarist Greg Leisz and drummer Jay Lane played Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver on June 8 and 9 before heading to Vail for shows at Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater on June 11 and 12. Portions of each concert saw the quintet joined by The Wolfpack horn and string section.
“West L.A. Fadeaway” was written by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter. The Grateful Dead debuted the song live on August 28, 1982 in Veneta, Oregon and recorded a studio version for their 1987 studio album, In The Dark. Bobby first added “West L.A. Fadeaway” to his solo repertoire with RatDog on May 28, 1997 at San Francisco’s The Warfield.
