Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir and Evanescence pianist Amy Lee are among the artists offering prizes in a series of online sweepstakes supporting music-based voter registration organization HeadCount. Fans can enter to win by donating to HeadCount’s “Save The Vote!” campaign.
A signed merch package from Billy Strings, roundtrip travel accommodations and meet and greet with Incubus and a virtual hang with Jason Mraz are also among the prizes along with limited edition D’Angelico HeadCount SS guitars signed by the associated artist. Additionally, the campaign marks the first time Weir or Lee have offered lessons to fans, which, along with the Mraz hang, are staged through the platform Lively.
“Hosting these incredible musicians on our platform, to support such an important initiative, brings together two of my great passions,” co-founder of HeadCount and Lively as well as Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein said in a statement.
HeadCount also teamed back up with D’Angelico guitars for the initiative, who are offering the aforementioned signed guitars after Weir played a D’Angelico guitar on stage at the Grateful Dead’s 2015 Fare Thee Well concerts that was later auctioned by HeadCount to support various Grateful Dead-related charities. D’Angelico also created a series of signature guitars for Bobby.
“Our partnership with HeadCount is one of our most cherished,” D’Angelico Executive Vice President of Product Ryan Kershaw added. “Their commitment to their mission is unrivaled, and it’s a true honor to aid in it. We’re proud to offer the Limited Edition HeadCount SS as both a custom, unique art piece that helps spread their democratic message and a highly playable, versatile instrument for the gigging musician or passionate collector.”
