Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine (Sam Beam) confirmed details of their 2022 Summer Tour dates. The co-headlining “Outside Problems” run features stops at amphitheaters and bandshells throughout the U.S. next June, July and August.
“It will have been more than two years of being grounded when we finally embark on the ‘Outside Problems’ summer tour,” said Andrew Bird in a press release. “90% outdoor venues. A fine road companion in Iron & Wine. I only wish it could happen sooner. I’m not sure why it took so long for me to meet Sam Beam. His music I have known and admired for many years now. What a lovely guy. The kind of guy that would help you move. See you on the outside.”
“Really looking forward to sharing the night with Andrew Bird for the Outside Problems Tour – our relationship started outside in Yosemite and bringing that into 2022 is exciting,” Beam added in regards to his recent collaboration with Bird. “And I’m happy to help Andrew move, but I might try to talk him into just staying put first!”
Phoenix’s The Van Buren hosts the tour opener on June 12. It’s then off to California for shows in San Diego on June 13, Los Angeles on June 15 and Berkeley on June 17. Venues for shows in Portland, Seattle and Salt Lake City will be announced soon. The pair then team with Neko Case at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado on June 22.
The second leg of the excursion starts at Atlanta’s Pullman Yards on July 22. Performances in Asheville, Nashville, Cary (North Carolina), Charlottesville, Vienna (Virginia), New York City, New Haven and Bethlehem (Pennsylvania) close out the month. Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine then hit Lafayette, New York on August 2 and Cincinnati on August 4. A show at a venue in Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 5 to be announced follows. Dates in Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Columbus, St. Louis, Chicago (venue TBA) and Minneapolis close out the tour.
