Movies That Matter Film Series: Hidden Figures

Nominated for the 2017 Academy Award for Best Picture, Hidden Figures stars Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monae and Octavia Spencer (nominated as Best Supporting Actress). This film based on true events is the April selection for the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library’s Movies that Matter Film Series, screening titles that promote thoughtful conversation. Hidden Figures is an inspiring true story about three African-American women at NASA, who despite the prejudice and segregation of their time, were instrumental in one of history’s greatest operations – the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.
Join host and moderator Tim Lawton, on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 7:00. Doors will open 10 minutes before the start of the film. Light refreshments and discussion will follow the screening for approximately an hour. Run time for the movie is 2 hours and 6 minutes and is rated PG. The movie will be shown in the library’s Community Room.
