Kingston Artist Soapbox Derby

The Kingston Artist Soapbox Derby, turning 22 this year, is an annual parade of non-motorized kinetic sculptures that roll down lower Broadway in the Rondout-West Strand Historic District ofKingston, NY. This year’s Derby happens Sunday August 20, 2017 starting at noon but spectators are welcome earlier to watch the entries line-up, along Broadway between West Union and Spring Streets.

The Artist Soapbox Derby is a truly unique family-friendly event that highlights Kingston’s vibrant arts community by drawing entrants and spectators from far and wide. Beyond the day of the event, the Derby encourages local community organizations to join in the fun and build a soapbox car as a team.
