The Hyde Park Education Foundation is sponsoring its inaugural “Field of Honor” on Memorial Day weekend in Hyde Park. The Field of Honor will be a display of 200+ American flags, 3’ x 5’, mounted on 8’ poles, in the field in front of the FDR Home Site, on Route 9 in Hyde Park. The flags can be purchased for $45 at the site, or reserved online at www.healingfield.org/hydepark18. The Hyde Park Field of Honor opening ceremony will take place on Saturday May 26 at 10:00 am, featuring a flyover by the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, and the Changing of the Guard by the 240th Military Police. There will be entertainment on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, provided by the F. D. Roosevelt High School First Ladies, the Blue Shell Jazz Band, and Nathan Avakian, an organist from the NY Theatre Organ Society. On Monday at 12:30 p.m., after the Memorial Day Parade, FDR alumni will perform a “Memories of Musicals” medley. The event will conclude with the ceremony in the Rose Garden at the FDR Home Site at 1:30
