Diane Galusha Local History Lecture
Diane Galusha, author of “When Cauliflower Was King,” will discuss the rise and fall of the cauliflower industry in the Catskill region. For a good part of the 20th century, the Catskills, in particular Delaware County, grew what was widely considered the best cauliflower anywhere. In the 1950s, a disease called brown rot, and competition from large scale growers in California and Long Island spelled the end of the cauliflower growing era for most family farms in the Catskills.
