Chair Yoga for Older Adults (55+) (6 week series)
The 6-week series starts on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 12:30pm-1:30pm at the Tivoli Free Library on the Third Floor. Classes are free. Please register with the library, space is limited! Must commit to the full series. Class will not take place on: Monday, October 9, 2017.
This yoga practice incorporates both seated and standing poses using a chair for support. Students will be guided through a series of stretches and postures that are modified to accommodate those with limited mobility and difficulty balancing. We work on building strength, flexibility, and balance as we explore the many aspects of yoga. An additional benefit of yoga is reduced stress and an ability to calm the mind using breathing and meditation techniques. Each class concludes with a final relaxation or guided meditation.
Please note:
* Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.
* Equipment/props are provided, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them.
