African American Music Trail

African American Music Trail

Will feature selections of songs sung by enslaved Africans in early America. They will musically move the audience through a historic timeline ending with jazz. The first performance will be a mass choir that will sing negro spirituals and traditional gospel music. The second showcase will be a jazz band performing freedom songs in a jazz genre. There will be two short readings; first about the history of the African American influence on music and secondly, a look at the African American settlement in the City of Newburgh. Tickets are $30.00.
