The public is invited to tour the private garden at Cedar House - Garden of H. Peter Stern & Helen W. Drutt English, Otterkill Road at Anders Lane, Mountainville; open to benefit the Garden Conservancy and the Cornwall Garden Club. No reservations required; rain or shine. Perennial flower beds at the entrance to Cedar House and surrounding driveway were conceived by the late Margaret Johns and have been preserved. With recent transformations under the direction of the Sterns, master gardener Jarna Maniguet has created beds of liriope, a fern garden, a peony path, and a cutting garden. Droog Design artist, Jurgen Bey, has created a bench from a fallen oak trunk. Stone walls, trellises, and grass paths surround a stone swimming pool and a cedar gazebo which overlook 200 acres of orchards, farmlands, and a natural forest.
