Each summer, the Byrdcliffe Artist in Residence Program provides over 60 visual artists, writers and composers of exceptional talent with the opportunity to pursue independent, creative work in the company of peers. Housed in three buildings on Byrdcliffe’s secluded campus, the program provides a focused and inspiring environment that attracts artists from around the globe. At the end of each one-month residency session, the public is invited to engage with the work of these talented individuals through Open Studios. During this event, the studios and communal living spaces of the Villetta Inn will be open for visitation, offering a rare glimpse of a variety of creative spaces and processes. After the studio tours, a potluck dinner will be held in the dining room, followed by short presentations by the writers and composers in residence. Visitors are encouraged to bring food and wine to share.
