I Could Be A King

July 25, 2012

Recorded at Willie Nelson's studio in Austin, Texas, and another in West Yorkshire, England, Blind Sighted Faith perfects The Dunwells' balance of American roots music and its Celtic counterparts. A Leeds, England-based quintet (featuring brothers Joseph and David Dunwell, two cousins, and a best friend), The Dunwells play with obvious camaraderie. They bring tight harmonies and an infectious feel to the title track, where they add U2-like shimmering guitars to their folk-to-rock approach. Legendary producer John Porter (The Smiths, Ryan Adams) pushes their vocals to the fore, giving the songs maximum impact. "I'm not afraid of falling, I just don't want to hit the ground," is a lyric from "Hand That Feeds"; this humorous and insightful style adds an extra sprint to their youthful, effervescent sound. "Only Me" and "I Want To Be" trace their acoustic side and further exhibit their peerless harmonies. An accomplished debut album.
