The story of the development over half a century of the Catskill-Delaware Water Supply which provides a billion gallons of water a day to 9 million people in New York City and four upstate counties. The talk will cover the engineering and construction challenges in building 6 great reservoirs and as many tunnels to carry the water from the mountains to the city. It will also describe the impact on the region where 26 communities were sacrificed for ‘the greater good’. Free but pre-registration is required.
