Radio Woodstock Celebrates Woodstock 50th Anniversary

RADIO WOODSTOCK CELEBRATES THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL WITH 36 HOUR REAL TIME BROADCAST OF THE HISTORIC 1969 FESTIVAL PLUS A SERIES OF CONCERTS AND EVENTS

FRIDAY, AUGUST 16

 

Nothing is more groovy than reliving the Original Woodstock Festival 50 years later. Radio Woodstock will replay the Woodstock concert in its entirety…in real time (it will skip the rain storm).

Starting at 5:07 pm on Friday, August 16th with Richie Havens and ending Monday morning with Jimi Hendrix, Radio Woodstock will play the entire recently released Rhino Records 38-disc, 432-tracked box set that includes a near complete reconstruction of Woodstock across nearly 36 hours, with every performance from the festival included in chronological order. This includes 267 previously unreleased audio tracks, totaling nearly 20 hours. 

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17

Also, on Saturday, August 17, Radio Woodstock will continue to spread the spirit born out of the 1969 Festival with a FREE outdoor concert from 3-7 pm at the Utopia Soundstage featuring local favorites The Rock Academy, Professor Louie and the Crowmatix, Murali Coryell and other special guests. Bring the family and enjoy live music along with crafts, food vendors and of course cold beer!

 

 

Elliott Landy, the official Photographer of the Woodstock 1969 festival will present special screenings of  Woodstock Vision, a 30 minute musical film collage of his historical Woodstock photographs featuring The Band, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Santana and others. Weekly showings at the Utopia Soundstage will continue through August. Admission is only $7.50.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 24

On the following Saturday, August 24, Radio Woodstock and The Alternative Guitar Summit present The Music of Woodstock 50 Years After featuring guitar greats Nels Cline of Wilco,Scott Metzger of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Vernon Reid of Living Color and  Joel Harrison. These 4 guitarists will explore new directions in the music of the Woodstock Festival. Nels Cline will play the music of  Santana. Scott Metzger will play the music of The Who. Vernon Reid will play Sly Stone, CSNY, and Jimi Hendrix, and Joel Harrison and Grateful Havens will play the music of Richie Havens and The Grateful Dead.
